Thought for the Day - Thursday of Easter Week

From Darkness to Light

I am sitting wondering what to write for a Thought for the Day---for there are so many conflicting thoughts, hopes, and concerns besetting each and everyone of us today.

Firstly, let us rejoice that on Easter Sunday, we could firmly say “ Alleluia, Christ is Risen,--He is Risen indeed.”

But even all those years back, Jesus’ closest followers could not say that. “ They were afraid.” Mark 16v 8.

Mary Magdalene was desolate and the disciples on the Road to Emmaus felt lost and alone---”without their anchor.”----but God led them on, as He will lead us on.

Many people are experiencing those thoughts, worries, distress and bereavement--as the Coronavirus takes hold and we hold them in our prayers.

I have much appreciated our online Zoom Services from St Albright’s: Tony Presiding, Morag singing and Francis our musical accompaniment---a God given household indeed---in the journey to Easter. Above all, I appreciated the Blessing of the Paschal Candle, yesterday--totally unexpected--representing, new life, new hope and our journey for whatever is ahead.

Let us appreciate what we have. We celebrate life, we celebrate hope.

“Shine as a light in the world to the Glory of God the Father.”

Keep us Good Lord under the shadow of your mercy, sustain and support the anxious,

Be with those who care for the sick,

Lift all that are brought low, that they may find comfort and know that nothing can separate us from your love. Amen.
