Thought for the Day - March 26th

Sing praises to the Lord, O you his faithful ones, and give thanks to his name..… Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”  Psalm 30.4,5

A suitable hymn exploring this theme is New Every Morning is the Love.

Things may seem bleak at the moment but one the main ways in which we can keep in contact with God is through prayer. We often use this prayer first thing in the morning: I find it is a great start to the day and gives a perspective and balance to all that I do. It is taken from A Celtic Liturgy by Pat Robson.

My Father,
I come to you at the beginning of this day
to ask you to guide me and to help me.
Give me courage to face the problems that lie ahead
and give me a heart wide open to the joys you have prepared for me.
Forgive my many sins, that I may start this day anew.
And as you forgive me, may I learn to be forgiving and compassionate in return.
My Father, I long to serve you aright.
may all that I do and all that I say
be pleasing in your sight.
Amen.
