St Albright’s Church, Stanway. Prayer Diary June.
1st: We pray for residents of Badger Holt. Justin, Martyr at Rome 665 ad. He taught Christianity as philosophy, first in Ephesus and then in Rome. We pray for the Church of England. “Help us to commit our lives to you and to one another.
2nd: We for residents of Brimstone Chase. Blondina and her companions 177ad. She was a young slave girl. She and 48 Christians in France were tortured and killed for their Christian faith. We pray for our own church: all who Minister and all who hold Office.
3rd: We pray for residents of Butterfly Trail. Martyrs of Uganda, 1885-7 & 1977: 46 Anglicans and Catholics were martyred. We pray for Bishops, our own Congregation and those attending our local churches.
4th: We pray for residents of Christopher Garnett Chase. Petroc, Abbott of Padstow, 6th Century. He is often known as “the Captain of the Saints.” We pray for all who teach and minister to children in our churches.
5th: We pray for residents of Columbine Mews. Boniface of Crediton 675 ad. Founder of Monasteries across Southern Germany. Archbishop of Mainz 732ad. Murdered in 754ad. We pray for teaching through Alpha Groups, Bible Study and Prayer Groups.
6th: We pray for residents of Cornflower Close. Inia Kopuria, founder of the Melanesian Brotherhood, 1925. We give thanks for the opportunity for fellowship at Coffee Mornings and Parish Lunches.
7th: We pray for residents of Dale Close. We praise You for all, who, like Colman of Dromore, have taught the faith to young and old. We pray for our Royal Family and all Members of Governments.
8th: We pray for residents of Dyers Road. Thomas Ken, Bishop of Bath and Wells. Hymn Writer. 1711ad. We pray for Stanway and our “City” of Colchester—for all who live and work there.
9th: We pray for residents of Flamingo Crescent. Columba, Abbot of Iona. 587ad. Iona became a starting point for the expansion of Christianity throughout Scotland. We pray for all Baptism families and for those whose Banns will be called in Church.
10th: We pray for residents of Giraffe Row. We pray for residents of Loganberry Lodge and for the Communion Service held there each week. We pray for the vulnerable, all who are in Care Homes and for those who look after them.
11th: We pray for residents of Hedgerows. Barnabas, the Apostle and Encourager. “Go and bear fruit, fruit that will last.” We pray for Community Gardening projects. Groups caring for the Community and places where we live. We pray for the National Trust.
12th: We pray for residents of Hyena Drive. John Skinner, priest, pastor, historian. His son, also John, Bishop of Aberdeen 1786. Associated with repeal of Penal Law. We pray for those with eating disorders and Mental Health issues.
13th: We pray for residents of Jackdaw Drive. We pray for Friends of Essex Churches Trust. We give thanks for those who work hard to preserve our ancient buildings.
14th: We pray for residents of Komodo Drive. Richard Baxter, Puritan Divine 1691. Teacher of the faith. He opposed the Civil War. We pray for all suffering abuse and all Help Agencies.
15th: We pray for residents of Lucy Lane North. Evelyn Underhill, Spiritual Writer 1941. Highly regarded as a Retreat Conductor and Spiritual Director. We pray for all Spiritual Directors.
16th: We pray for residents of Lucy Lane South. Richard, Bishop of Chichester 1253. He was considered a model bishop, caring for clergy and all people. We give thanks for Holy Communion and sharing with brothers and sisters across the world. We continue to pray for all Bishops and Clergy.
17th: We pray for residents of Maurice Way. Samuel and Henrietta Barnett, Social Reformers. They introduced evening schools. We pray for the Diocese of Chelmsford, for all who work in the Diocesan Office and members of Diocesan Synod.
18th: We pray for residents of Moss Road. Bernard Mizeki, Translator and Evangelist in what is present day Zimbabwe. We pray for all Armed Forces defending countries for peace.
19th: We pray for residents of Oakwood Meadows. Sundar Singh of India, Teacher of the Faith 1929. We pray for all who have suffered or died as a result of war.
20th: We pray for residents of Otter Place. Julius and Aaron, Martyrs: Welsh Christians----a tenuous link with the beginning of Christianity in Britain. World Refugee Day. We pray for all who have had to flee their country through war, natural disasters or famine.
21st: We pray for residents of Provence Close. Fillan, Abbot 8th Century (Feast 20th) A well with his name has been associated with cures for mental illness. We pray for all organisations, churches and communities working to care for refugees.
22nd: We pray for residents of Ringlet Lane. Alban 1st Martyr of Britain, 250ad. We pray for Chelmsford Cathedral Staff, the Cathedral School, Choristers and all who welcome visitors.
23rd: We pray for residents of Rogation Close. Etheldreda, Abbess of Ely, 678ad. A woman of austerity, prayer and prophecy. We continue to pray for students taking exams currently.
24th: We pray for residents of Rugosa Close. Birth of John the Baptist, whose Ministry was to prepare the way for Jesus and to declare Him the Son of God. We pray for those preparing for Ordination.
25th: We pray for residents of Sandmartin Close. We pray for those discerning their future and their calling within the Church. We celebrate Lay Ministry and all who are preparing to begin a new Ministry in our Diocese.
26th: We pray for residents of Lemur Lane. Robert Leighton, Archbishop of Glasgow, 1684. “My sole object has been to procure peace and advance the interests of true religion.” We pray for all who are involved in training and development in the Diocese.
27th: We pray for residents of Rhino Drive. Cyril, Bishop of Alexandria, Teacher of the Faith, 444ad. We pray for those visiting the Retreat House at Pleshey and for those working there.
28th: We pray for residents of Leopard Gardens. Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyons, Teacher of the Faith, 200ad. We pray for Hospices, Marie Curie and all who give end of life care.
29th: We pray for residents of Meerkat Mews. Peter and Paul, Apostles. Peter, “the Rock,” witness to the Lordship of Christ and Paul, teaching the meaning of being followers of Christ. We pray for families facing the end of life of a loved one. We pray for all who are bereaved.
30th: We pray for residents of Kestrel Drive. Martyrdom of Paul. Paul fought the good fight. May we keep the Faith which he taught. We pray for all disabled children, that they get the care they need. We pray for Lexden Special Needs School in Stanway.
